Fred van Maurik, Baarn, the Netherlands, 8th of September 1960
Born in an area with nothing else than nature surrounding him his interest in this subject was easily made and he did start to photograph and print his own photos in black and white and color from the age of 14.
In the beginning birds were, and still are his passion and main subject, but he also widen his interest in subjects like landscapes, macro, people in general, militairy airshows and fashion shows.
Since that young age he, besides a short period in which he moved to Groningen in the Northern part of the country, he still is busy with photography during every single moment he's got some spare time.
At the age of 17 his working career began in a printing-office as Junior Desk Top Publisher in which he did have the speciality of scanning images, slides and negatives, but he also did work a lot with software like Color Draw and Freehand.
After several years in this job he thought it was time to do something else and he became the first person in the Netherlands working as a Kodak PhotoCD scanner operator.
Over the past few years, more and more people became interested in his images wich did result in several publications like newspapers, magazines and books.
He also was granted with several awards for his wonderful work.
